At Joluka Windsurfing we are taking to the water this December and we want to invite you! This is your year to find your favourite water sport. We have a range of gear that caters to Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP), Foil Surfing, Wingfoiling and Windsurfing. We will go over each water sport we supply and why you should try it. Every December, South Africans gather along the coast to enjoy the traditional beach holiday we all know and love. Now is the time to make it memorable and learn to tame those waves.

Windsurfing Breakdown

Windsurfing is the most common water sport in our range. With the recognizable sail attached to a board, you let the wind carry you as you slice your way through waves or ramp them into the air. This sport is the embodiment of speed and flight on the water. If you handle that and the thought of it excites you then this could potentially be your next favourite water sport this December.

Board

There are slight variations with it comes to windsurfing boards, some tend to be narrower and some tend to be wider, it is all based on your preferences. However, with the evolution of windsurfing as a sport, the boards keep getting better and better. Hobbyists can now get an inflatable board for easy travel and storage.

Sail

With windsurfing you have an attachable sail for the wind to push you along the water. Sails can be easily detached and replaced on your board, so don’t worry if you don’t like the colour, you can always change it with a new sail. Masts can also be changed and updated based on your needs.

Boom

A boom is a piece of equipment that provides structural support to your sail mast as well as a place for you to grip and steer your sail. The boom itself fits around the sail and you can adjust the height to better suit you and how you want to sail on the water.

The Water

With windsurfing all you need is a body of water and well, wind! Wind is what propels you forward to enjoy windsurfing in its entirety. Luckily South Africa is known for its long coast and frequent winds. Windsurfing is a popular sport in Cape Town, but it doesn’t always have to be ocean water. You can windsurf almost anywhere as long as you have wind behind you. You can sail on a dam or cruise down a river, it doesn’t always have to be on a wave.
